Course Launch

I recently introduced myself on the Sociable Video social media channels, but also wanted to list our latest news updates, including:

New Partner

My name is Lisa Timmons and I recently joined the Sociable Video team, which now includes Wayne Ford and myself.

Between the two of us, we offer digital marketing expertise on a vast array of specialties that include web video, blogging, copywriting, social media and web design, just to name a few.

Together, we plan on creating comprehensive online courses to help you succeed in all areas of digital marketing.

Better Blogging

Our first project together is a blogging course that we launched earlier this month on Udemy.com.

For a preview at what the 3+ hour-long course offers, watch the 2-minute embedded video above.

While there are many technical courses and some blogging/blog writing courses, we feel ours stands out because it covers both the technical and creative aspects of blogging.

What to Expect

Over the next few weeks, we will be hard at work on some new courses.

First, we’ll be improving our original course, Online Video And YouTube Marketing Training with some key updates to make sure that the course content remains relevant in the face of ever-expanding technology updates.

After that, we’ll be packaging a brand new course around social media campaigns and best practices.

In between product launches, we plan on providing you with free tips for the digital media marketplace and, as always, look forward to interacting with you on all our social media channels.

Happy learning!

In this episode taken straight from the Sociable Video Training Course, I will teach you how to overcome your fear of being on camera. It’s very common and natural to not like being in front of a video camera but it’s something that everyone can condition themselves to overcome.

Becoming the face of your business and appearing in your video marketing can be a game changer! People buy from people and want to connect with YOU.

In episode 2 of Sociable Video Sessions: Q+A Edition, Linda wants to know how to improve the look of her web cam videos since that is all she has available to start her video marketing.

Another great question! In this episode I share 5 free and low cost methods to significantly improving the quality and audio of your webcam videos.

There are several reasons that people give for not yet leveraging video in their marketing. “It’s too expensive,” “I don’t have time,” or “I don’t want to be on camera,” are just some of the most common excuses.

While these are valid considerations, ultimately it’s highly beneficial to overcome these temporary obstacles and learn how to create engaging video programming for your business. However, if you are struggling to get a video up on your site then there are ways to create this content without any of those roadblocks mentioned getting in your way.

Animated or “whiteboard” videos that explain or introduce your product or service can be a very effective tool for your business. They can also be very affordable and fairly easy to produce.

Here’s how…

Check out my latest article on the best tactics to leverage YouTube for Business over on Udemy’s blog.

YouTube is where the eyeballs are. In fact YouTube is now where over a billion sets of eyeballs are every single month. The vast majority of those eyeballs belong to what Google & Nielsenare now calling the ‘C Generation’. The C Generation is supposedly a state of mind and is representative of those that ‘care deeply about creation, curation, connection and community.’

Generation C is made up of 80% millennials which also happen to be YouTube’s core audience. YouTube users are also very likely to constantly use a mobile device during the day to consume media so your videos must be optimized for all viewing platforms.

However, the C Generation is not YouTube’s only audience. All demographics are now consuming video online at growing rates and primarily on YouTube.

onechanneldesign

YouTube’s new One Channel design layout is here whether we like it or not! ReelSEO reports it will be rolled out to all channels by end of day today (3/7). I was just now able to upgrade my brand new channel by going to the link above and scrolling down to the very bottom of the page to this button:

The overwhelming majority of feedback and opinion of the new design has been fairly negative.

I agree with most of it.

I agree it makes your channel less visually unique and customizable (you now can only create a unique header graphic). Despite YouTube likening your content in the new design to a snowflake and that no two will be alike. A snowflake? Really? Unless you look at it under a microscope all snowflakes look the same! It is true though that a lot of this customization power was abused and made for way too many crappy looking channels. Maybe this is a positive after all.

I also agree the new design can get too cluttered and confusing to the casual viewer. It looks like there are several different sections you can add at your discretion. While it’s good to have options I think too many options can have an adverse effect on your visitors. I prefer the cleaner and easier to navigate 3 sections on the Vice channel to the 7 sections on the Intel channel.

I’ve been considering simplifying my site design at SociableVideo.com (even though I just launched) to be a more focused landing page that features my explainer video. After hours of searching I still have not found one that fits all of my needs but I have come across several that I like.

Below are my top ten video landing page templates that might be just what you are looking for.

Side Note: There are several video landing page templates out there that are more sales page oriented and have that “internet marketing” look. I know a lot of these type of pages have been proven to be very effective sales wise. However I personally think they look cheesy and like someone is trying to force sell me something. I prefer to go a more professional looking route while still utilizing some of those same sales page elements.
